Professional Supervision

The Do Network endorses a supportive and reflective process of supervision for therapists. We encourage learning and development within a reciprocal relationship.

Goals of Supervision:

  • To ensure safe and ‘best practice’ service provision for Clients and Staff

  • To improve, develop, and support the practitioner or supervisee:

o    Assist in the identification of professional and personal needs and strengths

o    Promote professional development and identify future goals and resources for learning

o    Promote self-reflection as a means to transform practice

o    Support risk management skills and assessments

o    Manage clinical caseloads and administrative responsibilities

‘Supervision incorporates elements of direction and guidance.’ Occupational Therapy Board of Australia 2014

As a formal process of support and learning, professional supervision enables the supervisee to develop knowledge and competence and to assume responsibility for their own practice. It also safeguards and protects those they are helping. The process can be direct, indirect or remote, according to the delivery context.
